The Fun Shop, Inc is a family owned business, founded in 1956 by Nancy Lee Allen. Nancy continues to be a driving force in the business, but her two daughters now operate the shop. Page Allen is the Manager and Buyer for the shop, and Betsy Allen Davis is the Office Manager.
When Nancy Allen was a small girl she dreamt of having her own shop, and played shop with all her friends in the neighborhood. She spent many years observing her father, A. Lee Coble, who managed several businesses in Winchester, Va, Nancy and her husband, Howard Allen , moved to town in 1955 when Howard purchased the local Photography Studio, and Nancy was frustrated because there was no where in town to buy childrens clothes or toys. Her solution was to open her own store and sell those items. Thus was born The Fun Shop so christened by Howards mother, Dorothy Gilpin Allen, who loaned the money to begin. Nancy vividly recalls the early days in business when Middleburg was still a sleepy town, and one day she took in 10 cents as her whole days sales. But as people would patronize her more and would ask for other products, Nancy added them little by little until today the shop houses 6,000sq. ft. of merchandise, and has expanded from only childrens products to all ranges of gifts and home decor.
The Fun Shop continues to be what Nancy built the business ona very Customer oriented specialty Department Store. We provide personal service to all our Customers with details like, free gift wrapping, special ordering of any and all of our products, personal shopping service& shipping. Our products are of excellent quality, reasonably priced, and not what you find everywhere else. We specialize in Hunt Country Gifts and Home Decor along with our many Departments like Bed & Bath, Kitchen and Gourmet, Childrens Toys, Books & Clothing, Lamps & Shades and much more.
